Menilik Siaran Pers IPW:
Tiranitotalitas, Jakarta – Siaran pers yang disampaikan oleh Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) sarat dengan kepentingan kelompok tertentu. IPW berupaya mempersempit peran Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) dalam menangani permasalahan sosial budaya dan keamanan di wilayah Republik Indonesia.
Padahal, TNI memiliki tanggung jawab formal untuk membantu aparat keamanan (Apkam) dan pemerintah daerah dalam menangani setiap permasalahan di wilayah, termasuk penertiban tambang ilegal.
Dibalik adanya keterpanggilan TNI turut melakukan penertiban tambang ilegal atau PETI di beberapa wilayah Indonesia, perlu dipandang dilatarbelakangi gagalnya Polri melaksanakan fungsinya. Hal ini akan mengganggu program pemerintah secara luas dan menimbulkan berbagai dampak masalah sosial budaya hingga keamanan di wilayah.
TNI memiliki tanggung jawab moral dalam membantu kesulitan masyarakat dan permasalahan lainnya, termasuk pembiaran terhadap kegiatan Tambang Ilegal atau PETI dan kegiatan tambang ilegal lainnya. Peran tersebut juga adalah kandungan amanah Undang-Undang TNI.
IPW harusnya tidak memandang permasalahan hanya dari prespektif penegakan hukum formal, melainkan perlu memiliki etika dan moral terhadap kepentingan yang lebih luas, yakni masyarakat dan negara. Berbagai kegiatan ilegal yang terjadi wi bberbagai wilayah, bila tidak teratasi dengan cepat dan tepat maka pada akhirnya dapat berkembang dan berpotensi sebagai ancaman terhadap stabilitas nasional hingga kedaulatan NKRI.
Siaran pers secara terbuka yang dilakukan oleh IPW dengan mudah diterawang oleh publik adalah sebgai kenderaan dalam upaya membumikan pesan untuk mempersempit gerak langkah TNI dalam menjalankan perannya sesuai amanah UU.
Di sisi lain, upaya yang dilakukan IPW sangat kontras terlihat sebagai palang untuk menghambat peran TNI dalam memberantas berbagai kegiatan ilegal dapat mengindikasikan adanya kepentingan untuk melindungi berbagai kegiatan ilegal yang sangat merugikan negara dan meresahkan masyarakat.
Pertanyaan yang harus dijawab adalah: IPW sebenarnya bekerja untuk siapa? Apakah mereka benar-benar memperjuangkan kepentingan masyarakat dan negara, atau hanya memperjuangkan kepentingan kelompok tertentu? Atau mengawal keberlangsungan pembiaran berbagai kegiatan ilegal di Indonesia?
