Fransiscus Go: Food Estate, Upaya Membangun Peradaban Baru dengan Cinta Lingkungan
Tiranitotalitas Jakarta – TOKOH masyarakat Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Fransiscus Go, menilai bahwa program Food Estate atau pengembangan pangan secara terintegrasi yang tengah digencarkan oleh pemerintah Indonesia merupakan upaya nyata dalam mewujudkan ketahanan melalui pemanfaatan lahan yang sudah lama tertidur alias tidak produktif. Menurutnya, pengelolaan lahan atau alam melalui peningkatan produksi pangan dengan melibatkan warga setempat merupakan bagian dari pembentukan peradaban baru masyarakat yang visioner dalam mencapai kesejahteraan serta memiliki kecintaan terhadap alam dan lingkungan sekitar.
“Pemerintah berupaya membuat food estate agar lahan yang luas dan tidur tersebut bisa menghasilkan. Menghasilkan nilai ekomonis tidak berarti tidak ekologis, melainkan mentalitas dan praksis di lapangan. Bagaimana menggapai kesejahteraan tanpa merusak alam? Modal awal ialah membangun peradaban cinta lingkungan hidup,” ujar Fransiscus Go dalam keterangannya, Kamis (18/4/2024).
Pria yang akrab disapa Frans itu menjelaskan, mengelola alam ialah panggilan manusia. Menurutnya, manusia tidak bisa hidup tanpa mengolah alam. Namun, sistem dan cara pengolahan menjadi penting. Pasalnya, jika manusia mengolah alam tidak sungguh-sungguh berarti belum serius dan belum ekologis.
“Potret kemiskinan di daerah Indonesia, terutama wilayah timur, merupakan hasil tata kelola alam yang belum optimal. Masih banyak lahan kosong yang dibiarkan tidur, tidak ditanami, dan tidak dikelola untuk kesejahteraan,” kata bakal calon Gubernur NTT tersebut.
Pemerhati pendidikan dan ketenagakerjaan ini menjelaskan bahwa berbagai masalah iklim dan alam muncul lantara aksi manusia yang kurang ekologis. Menurut Frans, kesadaran akan kebersihan masih relatif jauh dan perilaku mencemarkan masih bercokol dalam hidup bangsa ini. “Orang membuang sampah sembarangan, menggunduli hutan, menciptakan udara, darat dan laut yang tercemar. Alam yang rusak menunjukkan mental manusia yang juga rusak. Ada hal yang harus diubah dan diperbaiki,” sebutnya.
Alumnus PPRA 49 Lemhannas itu menjelaskan, krisis pangan merupakan hasil dari dua krisis, yaitu krisis alam dan krisis manusia sendiri. Alam, kata Frans, selalu punya cara untuk menyeimbangkan dirinya (detoks), sementara manusia selalu mencari alasan sebagai pembenaran situasinya.
Frans menuturkan bahwa manusia mengalami krisis ketika sudah jauh dari alam dan tidak menghargai alam. Ini perihal pola pikir dan pola hidup bahwa fenomena alam menunjukkan cara alam bereaksi atas perlakuan manusia atau boleh dibilang bahwa tanda-tanda alam adalah tanda-tanda tentang manusia juga. “Alam bersahabat berarti manusia juga bersahabat, alam marah berarti manusianya serakah. Keterkaitan ini penting sebab tidak ada seorang pun ingin merusak dan melukai dirinya sendiri. Hanya manusia kerap ‘bunuh diri’ dengan melukai alam semesta,” tegasnya.
Pebisnis yang komitmen terhadap kelestarian lingkungan ini mengatakan, konsep dasar yang harus diterapkan ialah alam itu diri manusia dalam skala yang lebih luas. Menurutnya, menghargai dan menghormati alam berarti menghargai dan menghormati diri sendiri. Konsepsi ini dasar berpijak untuk berperilaku ekologis.
“Seruannya jelas, ‘Kasihilah alam seperti mengasihi diri sendiri.’ Ini akan mendatangkan kebiasaan yang baik dalam kehidupan. Baru berikutnya langkah-langkah konkret bisa dilakukan, yaitu menjaga kebersihan dan keasrian lingkungan dari skala terkecil rumah tangga hingga ke skala yang lebih luas.
